Orphan Ministry
The AFFI Orphan Ministry
This is an initiative started by Pastor Vivian whose agenda is to mobilise the church family and well wishers to care for and support orphaned children, their families and the needy.
Motivation to Care for the Orphans
Psalms 82 :3 Defend the weak and the fatherless uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed
When we invite Christ into our lives, we are called to become more like him. Therefore the burden Jesus holds for his children becomes our burden too.
Are you actionably obeying the lord in his command to love and selflessly care for his people ? Find the opportunity to actionably care for the vulnerable and marginalised
It is based on the question above, that Abba father fellowship international (AFFI), came together as a church family under the stewardship of Pastor Vivian to sponsor the education of the fatherless and also provide monthly support towards the needs of orphans to ensure quality education, nutritious food, proper health and hygiene and the spiritual upbringing that every child needs to become a healthy productive and charitable part of the Mpale Mbaya community and the surrounding areas .
AFFI orphan care strategy
The strategy lies in a 3 pronged approach:
- Community outreach and partnerships AFFI often interacts with community leaders, local organisations and schools to identify vulnerable children. These partnerships help learn about children who are at risk due to family situations poverty, or neglect. AFFI then connects with families in these situations who require assistance.
- Establishing a strong spiritual foundation for the orphaned children/youth:All children are enrolled into our Little lambs and youth ministries where we have dedicated individuals ( Prayer leaders) who take to inculcating christian values and involvement in church activities. We also encourage deliverance for the child/youth and thereafter passionate prayer for each child/youth by name. Having dedicated individuals praying for these children//youth ensures a strong spiritual foundation.
- Celebrate the Orphan Sunday (2nd Sunday in November) but it is not a complete solution. The 2nd Sunday in November every year is celebrated to open the eyes and hearts of people to seek the lord and get involved in caring for the orphans in Mpale Mbaya and neighboring communities. It is during this event that well wishers and the church family contribute to the welfare to the children either in kind or monetary.
